UN City
You are welcome to sign up for our Danish classes held on the premises, provided that you work at the UN City or your spouse/partner does and is willing to take full responsibility for your access and presence.
We offer group courses, individual classes, semi-private classes and preparation classes for the official Danish exams. Our group courses consist of minimum 3 or 4 students and have a maximum of 10 students to ensure the best learning environment. We teach according to the needs of UN employees, and have successfully been doing so for more than 11 years.
The levels are set according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
GROUP COURSES, GENERAL DANISH:
Upcoming group courses: Aug.- Oct. 2025
The courses run for 9 weeks from mid-August until mid-October, classes are 1,5 hours one day per week. It is always possible to join a class online if you are unable to attend.
Beginner course - no knowledge of the Danish Language
This is the level for beginners who have no knowledge of the Danish language.

A1 Very basic knowledge of the Danish language
You can join this level if you have attended a beginner course through Sunshine Languages, or have already picked up a few sentences in Danish. You can introduce yourself and others and answer very basic questions about where you are from, where you live, etc.

A2 Basic knowledge of the Danish language
You can join this level if you have attended 1-2 A1 courses through Sunshine Languages, or have lived in Denmark long enough to carry out a basic conversation in Danish. You have heard of the rules for present, past and plurals, and can start using them in a very basic conversation

You can understand and communicate in sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most intermediate areas, such as shopping, family, employment, etc. You can use the present, past and plurals, though not always correctly.

You can understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters encountered in work, school, or leisure-related topics, and you can produce simple connected sentences on topics that are familiar or of personal interest. You know when to use the past and future as well as plural forms, and are able to use it in most situations.

INTENSIVE SUMMER COURSE JULY 2025
We are happy to offer intensive Danish courses at UN City this summer.
The courses will focus on vocabulary, grammar, and spoken conversation, tailored to the respective levels. The courses will run with a minimum of 2 students.
A1 – Basic Danish
You can talk about who you are, where you live and work, your family, home, and food preferences, using simple sentences. You have been introduced to present, past, and plural forms but may not use them consistently in conversation.

A2/B1 – Intermediate Danish
You can understand and use frequently used expressions related to everyday topics such as home, family, work, shopping, and leisure. You are familiar with plural, past, and future tenses and can use them appropriately in most situations.

PD2/PD3 EXAM PREPARATION CLASSES
Note that Sunshine Languages is not authorized to carry out the official government tests. We prepare students for the tests, and can help with the signup process. The price does not include taking the test at another school, they are preparation classes only.
There are currently no groups for the coming 2025 exams. If you are interested in joining a group, let us know and we will start a group if we have minimum 2 students.
PRIVATE / SEMI-PRIVATE CLASSES
We offer private classes for 1 student and semi-private classes for 2 students of the same level interested in learning Danish for the same reasons.
