UN City
You are welcome to sign up for our Danish classes held on the premises, provided that you work at the UN City or your spouse/partner does and is willing to take full responsibility for your access and presence.
We offer group courses, individual classes, semi-private classes and preparation classes for the official Danish exams. Our group courses consist of minimum 3 or 4 students and have a maximum of 10 students to ensure the best learning environment. We teach according to the needs of UN employees, and have successfully been doing so for more than 11 years.
The levels are set according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
GROUP COURSES, GENERAL DANISH:
Current group courses: January - March 2026
These are the courses we are offering January-March 2026. The courses run for 10 weeks from mid-January until the end of March, classes are 1,5 hours one day per week. It is always possible to join a class online if you are unable to attend in person.
If you are interested in one of the courses currently not running, contact us, and maybe we can start a semi-private (2 students) course.
Beginner - No knowledge of the Danish language
This is the group to join if you do not yet speak any Danish. We will start from the beginning.

A1 - Very basic knowledge of the Danish language
You can join this level if you have attended a beginner course through Sunshine Languages, or have already picked up a few words and simple sentences in Danish. You can introduce yourself and others, answer very basic questions about where you are from and where you live. You have been introduced to the numbers and plurals, though you might not know how to use it correctly yet.

A1+ - Basic knowledge of the Danish language
You can join this level if you have attended A1 courses through Sunshine Languages, or have already picked up some Danish. You can carry out a basic conversation and are able introduce yourself and others, answer basic questions about where you are from, where you live, your likes and dislikes, family etc. You have been introduced to the future and the past tense as well as the plural form of nouns, though you might not know how to use it all correctly yet.

You can join this level if you have attended A1+ courses through Sunshine Languages, or have lived in Denmark long enough to carry out a basic conversation in Danish. You are familiar with the rules for present, past and plurals, and can start using them in basic conversation.

You can join this level if you can understand and communicate in sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most intermediate areas, such as shopping, family, hobbies, employment, etc. You can use the present, past and plurals, though not always correctly.

B2 - You can communicate comfortably in Danish, not fluently.
You can join this level if you can understand the main points of standard input on familiar matters encountered in work, school, or leisure-related topics, and you can produce full, clear sentences. You know when to use the past, future and plural forms, and are able to use them correctly in most situations.

INTENSIVE SUMMER COURSES JULY 2026
We will again be offering intensive Danish courses at the UN City in the summer.
The courses will focus on vocabulary, grammar, and spoken conversation, tailored to each level. All materials will be sent via email shortly before the course begins, so there are no additional costs for materials. Each course requires a minimum of two participants to run.
Beginner
This is for students who do not speak any Danish at all. We will start from scratch.

You can talk about who you are, where you live and work, your family, home, and food preferences, using simple sentences. You have been introduced to present, past, and plural forms but may not use them consistently in conversation.

B1/B2 – Intermediate Danish
You can understand and use frequently used expressions related to everyday topics such as home, family, work, shopping, and leisure. You are familiar with plural, past, and future tenses and can use them appropriately in most situations.

ALL YEAR
We offer private classes all year. These start, whenever it suits you. We offer our exam preparation classes twice a year, starting approximately 10 weeks before the official written exam. We can only start an exam preparation class if we have at least 2 students.
PD2/PD3 EXAM PREPARATION CLASSES
Note that Sunshine Languages is not authorized to carry out the official government tests. We prepare students for the tests, and can help with the signup process. The price does not include taking the test at another school, they are preparation classes only.
There are currently no groups for the coming 2026 exams. If you are interested in joining a group, let us know and we will start a group if we have minimum 2 students.
PRIVATE / SEMI-PRIVATE CLASSES
We offer private classes for 1 student and semi-private classes for 2 students of the same level interested in learning Danish for the same reasons.
